The many personal encounters that Ruth describes so vividly convey the excitement, the challenge and enrichment of sharing with people of different cultures and religions. Her book also gives an overview of the recent national and international development of interfaith co-operation.

The history of the twenty first century may well depend on our answer to her question, ''Will the new friendships survive if old conflicts re-ignite or will we once again be divided by the barbed-wire of the past?" The hope, as she says, is for us "to get involved and make a commitment to positive change, to become co-creators and reweave the fabric of our world."
